Home MenuMaplewood Township Proclamations
A proclamation doesn't carry legal authority, but it can help define a town's identity, culture & shared values.
The Township of Maplewood issues proclamations to recognize special events, causes, achievements, and individuals that contribute to the cultural, civic, and social life of the community. Proclamations are ceremonial documents intended to acknowledge and celebrate noteworthy occasions or to raise public awareness of issues of local, national, or international importance. These honorary statements are issued by the Mayor on behalf of the Township Committee. They do not carry legislative or legal authority and do not create municipal policy, law, or endorsement. They are intended solely for ceremonial and educational purposes.
When possible, proclamations may be presented at a Township Committee meeting or another appropriate public event. Some proclamations may be issued without a formal presentation, depending on scheduling and availability.
