Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead and Supervise Camp Activities: Plan and lead engaging recreational, educational, and creative activities for children, ensuring their safety and enjoyment throughout the day.
• Provide Mentorship: Serve as a role model, offering guidance and support to campers while fostering their personal growth, teamwork, and social development.
• Support Camper Development: Encourage positive behavior and help children work through challenges, promoting emotional and social growth.
• Assist in Camp Operations: Work collaboratively with fellow counselors and camp directors to manage daily camp logistics, including setup, transitions, and clean-up.
• Maintain Safety Standards: Follow camp safety protocols and respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies or accidents.
• Communicate with Parents & Staff: Engage with parents to provide updates on camper progress and behavior when necessary. Work as part of a team with other counselors and camp staff to ensure a positive experience for all campers.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Age: Applicants must be at least 16 years old
• Education: No formal education requirements for youth positions. Teachers or individuals with prior experience in child care, education, or recreation are encouraged to apply for counselor roles.

Knowledge & Abilities:

• Child Development & Behavior Management: Ability to work with children of varying ages and backgrounds, understanding their needs and encouraging their development.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations quickly and make decisions that prioritize camper safety and well-being.
• Teamwork: Strong collaborative skills, working effectively with a diverse group of camp staff to ensure a positive environment for campers.
• Physical Stamina: Must be able to engage in active, outdoor activities and work long hours in varying weather conditions.
• Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing schedules, activities, and camper needs throughout the camp day.

Schedule:

• Camp Dates: June 22 - August 14
• Work Hours: Monday through Friday with varying shifts (before care, full day, and aftercare positions available).
